IDEA DEFINITION
Other health impairment (OHI) defines a person as having limited strength, liveliness, or attentiveness. This could include alertness to environmental stimuli, where it could result in the limited attentiveness to the educational environment. This could be caused from acute or chronic health issues like ADD, ADHD, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, hemophilia, heart conditions, leukemia, lead poisoning, rheumatic fever, nephritis, Tourette syndrome, and sickle cell anemia. OHI negatively affects a child's performance in education.
